Some More Really Bad Math*
Given the following assumptions:
You must show all your work. No credit will be given for incomplete answers.
*A mathematician of medium stature has gladly endorsed this problem as "Terrible."
- As average total compensation a increases linearly, the number of talented people y increases proportionally (The You Get What You Pay For Theorem);
- As the number of idiots i increases, the rate of hiring more idiots p increases exponentially (The Law of Critically Stupid Mass);
- As average total compensation a increases linearly, the rate of retention u increases exponentially and tends to infinity (The Fur Lined Rut Axiom);
- Productivity q is directly proportional to the number of talented people y and inversely proportional to the number of idiots i (The Law of No Free Lunch).

Well, I have the answer but you can't display images in comments so I can't show you.
It's like an HTML version of Fermat's Last Theorem...
...and describing Mr Potato as "medium stature" is a bit unfair. He's quite tall now.
You're back! I'd wondered where you'd gone...
Well, you know, I do have other things to do in life. Like choosing whether to put on a light wash or a dark wash. Or wondering: should I tidy the hall before the sitting room, or the other way around?
Life is one long roller-coaster, yes siree!
I vote for the light wash and the sitting room...
Don't ruin it for me! I'd put aside tomorrow morning to ponder those two questions. I'll probably have to get out of bed before lunch now...
UPDATE: I cleaned the kitchen! No one saw that coming.
